Samsung's LN52A850 is a one of the most impressive HDTV systems on the market today. Only the coach will beat your game-day seats thanks to enhanced LCD technology complemented by Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz technology. You'll see crystal clear, action packed movies with unprecedented verve compliments of a sizzling fast 5 ms response rate to sharpen contrast and cut blurring.

The pride of the 850 family may be 46" little brother, but Samsung flaunts the 52" version by bulking it up with a plethora of technological add-ons to buzz the technically savvy. That's not to say the added features aren't redeeming. For example, InfoLink fetches the latest news, weather, and sports RSS feeds and drops them at your finger tips.

Samsung enlists DLNA technology to promise seamless interaction between your media, broadcast, broadband, and mobile media components. Basically, you're supposed to be able to plug in any of your stuff and see it or hear it. Impressive for gaming. At least that's the idea. Getting everything working together and running smoothly is like enjoying a vintage hot rod. It may take some tinkering but you'll be repaid with an supreme experience.

The iPod-ish remote, though prone to fingerprints and smudges, is a natural fit for some although clumsy for others. It's a nice concept though. Who really wants to read remote buttons when you can simply turn and click?

Samsung produced a mixed bag of good results and good intentions in efforts to overcome large flat screen woes. They declare bragging rights on their Touch of Color design claiming the red racing stripe transforms the "stylish TV into a work of art." The "Super Clear Panel" receives mixed reviews as to its effectiveness. Perhaps most impressive feature is the near 180 degree viewing spectrum contained within a wall-mountable panel less than 2 inches thick. Unfortunately, the impressive visual display is contrasted with dismal audio despite TruSurround efforts.

Let's face it. Samsung's LN52A850 will maul your tax return without remorse. Of course it's not worth the money if you're just looking for a nice TV to crown with the rabbit ears. But if you're one of the elite "I've got it and you don't" pack then this just may be the system for you. Your game day experience will never be more realistic. However, you'll have to supply your own Gatorade cooler.
